Can someone help me create a food chain linking a bird, shrew, rat, vole, mole, mouse and an owl?
Dec 19, 2007 by Adriana | Posted in Zoology
Thanks in advance to everyone that answers.
OK. The shrew, rat vole, mole and mouse would all be connected to the owl, as they would be prey (food) for it. As for the bird, if it where a bird of prey like a red-tailed hawk, it would eat all of these things as well. This is where it gets complicated. The mouse and vole eat mostly vegetables. Many birds do this too, such as mallard ducks. The shrew and rat are omnivores, which means they will eat just about anything. Seagulls would do this too. As for the mole, he eats mostly worms, something a robin is known to eat. And lastly, the vole eats mostly seeds and grains, much like a chich-a-dee. So, it really depends on what bird your using. I hope I've helped a little!
