Construction on the boroughs aviary project at the New York State Zoo at Thompson Store probably wont start until spring.
City Repairman Kurt W. Hauk said Friday that a tight set up schedule most likely will delay work on the new multipurpose/instructional building until the weather breaks next year. Burg officials had said they hoped it would get off the ground by the end of the year.
Mr. Hauk will first encounter Aug. 29 with representatives of Bernier, Carr & Associates to re-judge the design and come up with more accurate costs to operate the construction once it is built. The City Council then will be given an update on what is discussed at that encounter when it meets Sept. 6.
We still have to hammer out the schedule, Mr. Hauk said.
By the notwithstanding the design is finished this fall, it probably will be too late to get bids out and supreme a general contractor in November for construction to start this year, Mr. Hauk said.
Bernier, Carr already has started doing some object work since the council selected it for the job in June. Before that, the council was hung up on choosing a organization team when council members Roxanne M. Burns and Jeffrey M. Smith both voted against hiring Bernier, Carr for the $42,774 knit because they were under the impression that GYMO Architecture, Engineering and Land Surveying was successful to get the contract, since it had worked pro bono to put together conceptual plans for the throw.
