She had 30 more in a large flight in her sunroom, which was located unprejudiced off her living room, and 10 in a smaller flight on her back porch. There were 20 additional cockatiel pairs in breeder cages in Goodwin’s award bedroom and study. With cockatiels literally filling the edifice from one end of her house to the other, there was also a lot of feather dust and dried droppings floating around the air.
“I knew the air wasn’t precisely clean, but I wasn’t bothered by it,” Goodwin admitted. “I was fully crazy about the cockatiels, and I just figured the bird dander was something I had to learn to spirited with.”
Five years into her cockatiel-keeping, however, Goodwin found herself sneezing a lot, even when she didn’t have a stone-cold and it wasn’t hay fever season. Several times she woke up in the mid-section of the night with a dry, wispy cough in her upper chest, coughing to the single out that she couldn’t get back to sleep. She felt sniffly, headachy, sick and tired of and generally miserable. That went on for many months. Then one night she had an all-out respiratory assault, which left her gasping for breath and resulted in a trip to the difficulty room.

My name is Ashley and I love cockatiels! My interest in these awesome creatures peaked after I spent a summer in Costa Rica studying and banding birds. Six months later my boyfriend surprised me with a cockatiel that flew into the garage during a cold front. While I have always been an animal lover, I had never had a pet bird before. I really was not sure what to expect. However Loki, my little cockatiel loved me from the moment we met; she was always trying to fly onto me and be close to me. Our relationship has continued to grow and now I could not imagine my life without this little bird! I have fallen in love with the species and find myself in hysterics watching them on youtube. Cockatiels have stolen my heart.
