Marsha, 49, breeds and raises lunch-hook-fed, hand-pampered exotic birds at her aviary in Millstadt. She opened her first chum-and-mortar location a year ago, after five years of doing affair online.
Growing up in Troy, there was always room for one more stray bestial, she said, including abandoned birds to look after. She raised her three children in New Douglas on a "mini arable." Josh, 21, runs the store while Marsha works in the aviary. Her spouse, Tamer, owns an ATV business in St. Louis.
"Having a pet seek has been a lifelong dream of mine," she said.
Open the front door and you'll discover the high-pitched chattering of parakeets, the deep squawks of parrots and the light babbling of zebra and diamond finches.
"Some people say they rosy like little babies," she said of the tiny nefarious birds with colorful stripes.
Music played in a side room with several huge cages. It's less noisy than usual because her supply of birds is a bit low.
