squirrel proof bird feeder?
6 months ago, i bought a bird feeder. it was called the "yankee tipper". i'm close to a spruce tree. and squirrels live with the birds in the tree. the squirrels jump off the tree and eat upside down. and then the crows fly at the same time while they eat. then, i bought a dome-like thing for the squirrels. but they still eat upside down. now, the squirrels scared off the small birds that i enjoy. i live in the Kansas City-Prairie village area, so i was wondering if there is any good feeders around here. i don't want to buy on the internet, please.
by the way, the squirrels already broke the feeder. and i don't have an area where i'm ten ft. away from a tree. I'm in the leawood area, so all what you see is trees. i cannot hang something on the tree because my spruce can't hold anything. most things fall off. i can't cut down the tree either.
My mom buys some birdseed that has some sort of pepper in it, which the birds still enjoy, but the squirrels HATE it. if you sprinkle it around the bird feeder too, they'll eat a piece and then never go back once they taste it.
I think it's called "squirrel off" or something. and it's totally humane.
