Has anyones cat been allergic to Iams dry caat food?
My cat has some bare patches of fur on his head and some are bleeding? I changed from whiskers cat food to Iams cat food to give him better nutrition. Someone suggested he may be allergic to it. He has been scratching a lot and I thought he had fleas but maybe he has an allergic reaction. What do you think? Would like feedback from people who used Iams brand too. Thanks.
My other cat doesnt seem to be bothered by the new food.
Apart from hair loss and itching how can you tell if your cat has allergies?
Wow, I thought I was the only one with this problem!!
I have a three year old cat and recently adopted two kittens. I fed (past tense!) them all Iams Kitten. It was a medium-grade, affordable brand that had been around for years and had a well established name, in my opinion.
After about 3 months of eating Iams, my three year old began getting rashes underneath her chin....she tends to take the "head first" approach when eating. I applied some Hydrocortison lotion to her chin and immediately switched to Eukanuba (her brother had a similar allergic reaction to Iams and Eukanuba was the only brand we had tried that had made him better before he ran away).
They have all been on Eukanuba for about 2 months now, and the only difference I see is that they eat less and don't have as much dandruff. Their poops are also slightly less stinky. When they reach 1 year I am switching them to the "Sensitive Stomach" formula, because it has less by-products, corn, and some sort of whole meat as the first ingredient.
My vet once told me to rub Neosporin on my outside cat's wounds. Hope this first hand experience helps!
