How can i stop my cat from flicking her kitty litter out of the box when she covers up her business?

We regularly clean the kitty litter, but our cat always flicks the kitty litter out of the box and spends a long time doing so. Her "business" IS covered but she seems to go overboard. Is there any way you can help us to stop her from kicking kitty litter all over the floor, and do you know if this is a common thing? She also stands in the kitty litter box with her front paws out scraping the ground, it doesn't make sense. please help us, thanks =)

my cat used to do the same thing. i couldnt figure out what was going on, so i just started using less litter in the box. he stopped! im not sure if that will also work for you, but it did for me. i guess he didnt like so much litter for some odd reason.

I was even-handed observing the kids milling around in the street. There was a red pickup parked in front of us. It had a extend on the back of the truck bed. I watched as two couples approached the truck. They had a pizza box in script and a couple of drink cups. The drink cups were tipped on their side on top of the pizza box, so I expropriated they were empty. I watched as they opened the lid of the truck bed. They put the pizza box down on the sidewalk. I taken just so they could get something out of the truck bed or put something in it. To my surprise, one of the couples got in the truck bed and then imprison the lid on it. The other couple got in the front of the truck and then they drove off, leaving the pizza box and cups on the pavement where they had put them. What? Surely they didn't just do that. I must have not seen them pick up the box and cups.

So I asked my quiet when he got back if the pizza box and cups were still on the sidewalk. Sure enough, they were.
