You can get some of it really cheap, and in bulk supply at http://bricomedicalsupplies.net/ . They are FANTASTIC for kidney issues, but may not have everything for you. But you can stock up cheaply on needles, etc., and may not want to get too much food and medicine at a time. Petmeds.com usually has very inexpensive prescriptions, compared to the ridiculous markups at most vets.
I get my cat’s PZI Insulin from 1 800 PetMeds. It’s about $30 a bottle cheaper than my vet charges, and that’s with the $17 express charge. They always give 10% off the next order, so if I can swing it, I’ll get two vials.
I’ve found it to be the same price for syringes as my doctor charges, so I just pick up the syrines from the vet.
Hope this helps.
I have never had a cat with diabetes and there is a Yahoo group for it. I am a member of feline hyperT, cancer, etc.
You just go to http://www.yahoogroups.com and put in a search for feline diabetes. Join the group and you can share information with all the members – getting supples, feeding, etc.
Purina One has 2/3 grain in its formulation and I have heard that you want a very low-carb diet with diabetic cats. So the other members of the group may give you some other ideas about what’s best for your cat to eat.
