Is there a good remote-control cat toy that works on carpet?
My cat just turned 1, and he's very playful & hyperactive. He doesn't like to play by himself & always wants me playing with him. He also has a short attention span. I'm trying to think of things we'll both enjoy. He LOVES his laser light, but we get bored after a few minutes. I got him a remote-control mouse, and he loves it, but it loses its charge super-fast, and it doesn't work on carpet. I have only a few square feet of non-carpeted area in my apartment. I know he'd love a fun remote-control ball or something. It's hard to tell if they'll work on carpet. Has anyone found a good remote-control cat toy that will work on carpet? Grendel and I would appreciate any advise you can give.
Like I said, we already have a laser. We actually have a few of them. Grendel LOVES them. However we get bored with them after awhile. I'm looking for a remote-control toy that works on carpet. Thx.
Thanks. I thought about a remote-control car if I can find one that's small enough not to scare him & big enough to run on carpet. He has all kinds of feather & other toys. Nothing can hold his attention for more than a minute. His only interest in most toys is knocking them off furniture. (I line them up, and he has fun, but he won't chase them once they're down). R u sure the laser light is frustrating? He seems to go nuts over it. Anyway, we both have really short attention spans, so we need some new active toys. I know he loves his mouse......if only it held a charge & moved on carpet.
I tried every remote control mouse that Petco and PetSmart carries around Christmas and they all stink. None of them hold a charge very long and I have low Berber carpet in most of my home and it kept getting stuck.
On a recent trip to Edmonton I picked up remote control car similar to this one http://www.overstock.com/Sports-Toys/Rem ote-Control-Turbo-Tumbler/1567639/produc t.html It's easy to control and it can right itself when it flips over.
Honestly, though? The cats could care less for it - it's my ferrets that move to chase it.
Have you tried feather/wand toys or lure toys that you can wave and he can chase? My cats go nuts for the "Cat Catcher" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tr3nYm5K9 AY. They also love the feather boa on a stick - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S8EBnVeUZ QI or just plain feathers http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GJb5Yu38j V0
Laser toys are actually VERY frustrating for cats as they can never catch the "prey". http://www.littlebigcat.com/index.php?ac tion=library&act=show&item=laser toys so best to avoid them.

For cats, try playing with a laser arrow, remote-controlled toy or ball of paper for 5 to 15 minutes each day. Do yourself and your dog a favor and pledge to daily walks, rain or shine. The health benefits of walking unfold to both ends of the leash.and more »
