How can I make a good dog bed for a 25 lb medium size dog?
A nice bed can be made cheaply by using some recycled materials. You will need a burlap sack (or sack of another heavy material) I like the large sacks bulk coffee comes in, you can get them at coffee roasters and some coffee shops.
Fill it with larger curly wood shavings, ideally cedar for the nice smell. A local wood shop is a great place to get free shavings. One that do lots of Lathe work are good, those shavings are bigger and have some curl to them which adds loft to the bed.
Sew up the one open end, and walla, dog bed. once it gets too packed down with use you will want to make a new one. Or open it up, discard the old shavings and replace with fresh ones.
