How can i feed my dog with an Elizabethan Collar?

Today my 2 year old Shih Tzu just had surgery on his eye and i was wondering how i could feed him.

He has been neutered and he wore one before but we took it off because he wasnt eating and we put the bitter spray on the spot
but this time they told us we cannot take it off.

My concern is that he does not eat on a regular schedule and when we tried to feed him he just turns his head. Is there a way I can position the food somewhere so he can feed himself?

My dog had eye problems too and had to wear one. I was wondering the same thing at first, so, I tried hand feeding her. Once she got used to the collar and hungry enough, she would eat with it on. They can do it. When she got used to it, she would do anything with it on. Give her time to figure it out.

So Gulliver had an appointment with the surgeon today. All weekend I kept trying to push back the images I’d dutifully sought out to clarify the neutering procedure. I succeeded miserably. By 4:50 this morning I was awake, trying to find reasons to go through with it. Finding none, I got out of bed anyway when I received the expected text of a daily Bible verse and began to pray. Little did I know how literally the message would be translated. The pup, for the first time in history, peed at the foot of the bed! I picked him up and hustled off to the bathroom and plopped him summarily into the empty jacuzzi. He objected when I left him there and shut the door only to find a further surprise when I checked back… Despite the fact that I get lost en route, we make it to the Spay & Neuter Center by 7:40 a.m. I do not cry when I leave him there. Ever committed to efficiency, I move on into our day leaving but a single message at the . This is an imaginary yet surprisingly powerful location for which a former grad school buddy and I share responsibility as co-directors. Routinely, when we haven’t been in contact for awhile, we’ll call and leave messages on each other’s voicemail about how many buckets of love are waiting with one of our names on them to be collected in the lobby. Granted, you’ll need a lot more than imagination to get through grad school. But it helps.

I received the call to collect him at one o’clock. By that time I’d read for 30 minutes on the treadmill, and checked off several other important but not urgent items on my to-do list. The only thing I’d neglected to write down was feel the feelings… Given that I’d intended to go and get a dog license after picking him up, I knew I wouldn’t be making my tentatively scheduled Zuumba class at 1:45 but I might still be able to make the tuna casserole *, eat and get to the adjunct faculty orientation. Yeah. I know, I’m in the tenure process and still interested in attending faculty workshops. What can I say. Let’s hear it for the life-long learners?
