What about this dog house for my..?
Hello, my new puppy beagle will be arriving towards end of this month. I have bought her a dog house called Indigo, made by Petmate. There are 3 kinds of sizes that this indigo dog house comes in--> Medium, Large, X-Large. The medium size is ideal for small to medium dogs 45lbs or less, but I have bought the large size. How much do adult female beagles weigh? I was wondering if my beagle pup, once she becomes an adult will still fit in this dog house? Thanks. (I bought the large size).

She will fit just fine.The medium would have been better.You see,you want a dog house to be just big enough for the dog to be able to stand and turn around comfortably,but not too big,because the smaller houses hold the dog's body heat in better,so they stay warmer in the winter. I would put the house up on a palette ( skid) and also get a door flap for it for winter. use a water proof dog bed and some clean straw as bedding.Straw really keeps a dog warm.I don't know how cold it gets where you live,but beagles cannot stand extremely cold weather.Why can't the pup live inside? She would be so much happier with companionship from you.
