I'm looking for a cheap dog containment pen for my new puppy that he will not be able to knock down. Or even maybe an idea on how to make one myself, any ideas? He's a black lab, so he's a little on the tall side, currently about 9 weeks old.
He has a crate, but I dont want him going in the crate and the outside space might help he to crate train.

Labs are terrific escape artists. You need a really good pen - at least 6 foot with a dig guard and a cover (might not work even then). Your best bet is to use the crate and walk him on a leash for at least 1 hr. two times a day or more and let him play in the house supervised by you the rest of the time. They also love balls and frisbees so if you have a dog park close by this would help work off some energy as well.

To those who have never savvy the anguish of losing a child, the mere thought of it is unfathomable.

Theme a book about the worst period of her life was not exactly what Julie Schrock wanted to do. But she was consumed by the eradication of her son, U.S. Marine Corps Cpl. Max Donahue, a 23-year-old dog handler who was killed by a God-forsaken-triggered improvised explosive device in Afghanistan on Aug. 7, 2010.

Making decisions when she returned to labour only added to the stress. Her thoughts were scrambled from the intense grieving proceeding that continues to this day. Schrock, of Lone Tree, finally sat down to pen “Missing Max,” a 98-errand-boy memoir from a mother’s point of view, in the months after she received the pathetical news.

Even as recently as July, Schrock was receiving details of the outcome from the Marines who were working with Donahue that day. Schrock believes that from their accounts, she has pieced together what happened in the hours before and after the defame that changed the lives of everyone in her family forever.

A New York dog may have been executed for a crime he didn’t commit.

Suspected in the death of six alpacas at a neighboring farm in Forestburgh, Nubis, a Belgian malinois, was shot by an employee at the farm — five days after the alpacas were found dead.

Now, a report issued by an animal control officer says there’s no evidence connecting Nubis to the alpaca attack.

The dog belonged to Ben Wechsler, neighbor of Stuart Salenger, who owns the farm. The two men have a history of not getting along, according to the .

Animal Control Officer Arnold Burger said the likely culprits in the slaying of Salenger’s animals were coyotes, not dogs, and that photographs provided by Salenger are insufficient evidence to confirm the dog was shot in the alpaca pen. The photos show the dog’s body in two locations, he said. Salenger said his farm workers removed the dog from the pen because the body was bothering his animals.
