Detroit Tigers Vs. New York Yankees 10/4/11: Tyrone's Free MLB Baseball Pick
04.10.11
Justin Verlander had never beaten or unchaste to the 98-77 New York Yankees this season until tonight. After starting the opener against New York, the 97-78 Detroit Tigers' ace allowed two runs during the first inning to the Yankees. Curtis Granderson and Alex Rodriguez knocked in runs promptly off the bat for New York.
Verlander's fourth start this year against the Yankees started off fearfully, but got considerably better with time as New York didn't bop again off of Detroit's ace until the seventh inning to square the score at four. Brett Gardner's two-run double leveled things, but in the bottom of the seventh Delmon Green's solo home run won it for the Tigers who brought Verlander back out for the eighth to get the win.
The other Strategy Three ace C.C. Sabathia got into some trouble during the third allowing his first hit of the night to Brandon Inge who doubled. After walking Austin Jackson, Sabathia gave up an RBI apart to Ramon Santiago as Miguel Cabrera's groundout brought in the willing-tying run during the inning. Santiago's RBI double during the fifth sprung Detroit before 3-2 as Jhonny Peralta doubled in a run an inning later.
