puppy pads?
Has anyone trained their dogs to poop and pee on puppy pads? I want to train my puppy to use puppy pads when I'm at work, but how would I prevent openning my apartment door and smelling puppy poo?
I'm getting a English Toy Spaniel. I was going to keep my pup in one of those big soft sided ex pens. with his crate in one end and puppy pads in the other. You guys might think it strange, but I had my female pitbull potty trained to a litter box and she never had accidents. I want the same for my new pup. He can go whenever he wants. Especial when I'm at work.
I've used puppy pads for little puppies before they're ready for their new homes. They work a lot better than newspapers but they don't make the smell any better! the kind that actually stick to the floor are the best I found, I often found the other ones bunched up in a corner or wrapped around a puppy!
Confining your new puppy to a small area with a bed and a 'potty spot' is a good idea while it's small as it would be much too long to leave a young puppy in a crate.
It sounds as though you already successfully trained your other dog so you shouldn't have any big problems this time around as you most likely know what to do. Just make sure your new baby gets plenty of time for exercise outside and that you pick an outdoor 'potty spot' too so he knows where he's expected to do business.
