Why does my dog put his paw on top of me?
Hello there
whenever I kneel or sit with my dog she puts her paw on top of me. If I put it back down on the ground she puts it right back on me. After awhile she'll put her other paw on top of me and just sort of stand there. What is she trying to do?
Dogs will put a paw on anything they feel belongs to them - it's a sign of affection, but also a sign of dominance.
If you watch dogs in a pack, the alpha dog will always be standing above the others, and if another dog gets out of lie or comes too close, the alpha will put their foot on the dog to show signs of leadership.
