I am planning on getting a 55 gallon aquarium to be setup for goldfish. I will have a undergravel filter and 2 power filters (both made for 50-55 gal,)
I will also have live plants such as frill and hornwort. How many Comet and Common Gold fish can I have? I want 2 sarsa comets and 1 common. Tell me if I can get more or less.
The inch per gallon rule DOES NOT WORK, especially not for Goldfish!! 10-15 Goldfish would be MASSIVELY overstocking that 55g and would result in a heap of dead fish.
I would say two common/comet Goldfish max bearing in mind they do get very large and the mess only increases as they grow. Get those live plants established first as the Goldfish will pick at and uproot them.
Really, common/comet type Goldfish really do best in ponds over 500-600 gallons.

Out part of my labor day at Pets Plus in the Northeast checking out their freshwater fish office. There were some impressive Angelfish, ranging from 2-5 inches, and a gargantuan Freshwater Stingray that really stood out.
The 3 and 5 inch Angelfish were really gorgeous. Here is a picture of some larger ones from the internet: http://yhoo.it/rljE36 . There were a couple rare kinds of Angels too. Angels can be kept with Gourami’s, larger Tetras, Platy’s, Sword tails, Mollies, Discus, Corydoras Catfish, Plecos benefit some other fish. They are a nice “centerpiece” fish, because of how big they get and their single body shape. Having more than one can spell trouble. If you stumble on to get two males they may fight. This is to show who is the dominant male in the tank. This is also why some people nothing but get one Angel, as the “centerpiece” of their aquarium. It is hard to state the males and females apart, but a male and a female will m beautifully in a tank. The bigger the tank, the better your chances are of having multiple males and female Angels living a exhilarated life. For multiples I would suggest a 55 gallon tank. This will give them full room to swim and more room so their territory is not invaded. .

However, in the last several days, I have noticed beginning growth of brown algae on the glass, and the water itself seems very dirty (not bacterial bloom, but small floating particles.) I do 20% water changes once a week, I am very careful about overfeeding and remove any uneaten food. I switch between flakes, mysis shrimp, and blood worms, as well, dropping a bottom-feeder pellet down for the cory. Now my plants seem to be dying, the leaves are getting large brown spots on them and falling off the plant (I remove them as soon as I have noticed they have separated from the stalk). I am looking for some help, I'm at a loss of what to do. I am thinking about maybe getting several standard-sized cories to help with cleanup, as well as 3-4 otos. Should I do water changes more frequently? Or should I remove a larger portion of water when I do them? Is something perhaps wrong with my filter? I rinsed the filter media in tank water when I first noticed the tank becoming dirty, and it was a very muddy-brown colour, could this be a problem?
