Fish Aquarium and Souvenir shop in third phase of Rock Garden ...

Chandigarh January 11th: An Aquarium section and a Souvenir shop recently set up  in the third phase of the Rock Garden will be inaugurated by His Excellency (Retd.) Dr. S. F Rodrigues, Governor of Punjab and Administrator, UT Chandigarh on January 14th at 11 am in the third phase at the Rock Garden.

A meeting under the Chairmanship of Shri Ram Niwas ,Home Secretary UT  cum Chairman, Society for Maintenance and Development of Rock Garden was held in presence of Nek Chand, Director and Creator Rock Garden, Chief Engineer, Chief Architect, Deputy Commissioner, Special Secretary Finance, Principal Chandigarh College of Architecture, M.N Sharma, former Chief Engineer and other senior officials of Chandigarh administration. During the meeting it was decided that a Miniature India in will be set up on the premises of Rock Garden which will display the features of all the respective states of India. The statuette erected in Miniature India will be made up of waste material so that it gels with the Rock Garden theme.

It was further decided to raise the height of existing concrete drum compound wall in Rock Garden in addition to construction of artistic wall in the third phase and also to construct one room attached with lavatory in the same phase. For the further development in the Rock Garden it was decided by the panel that the entry to the Rock Garden from Gate No.3 will be spruced up and interlocking pave will be provided along approach road on both the sides so as to give good environment. The area of Rock garden is about 25 acres. Various passages surrounded with walls are made in the garden therefore different types of flooring will be provided in the passage. The area near water fall will be spruced up and provide flooring. The area will be used for performing small cultural programme and extends to the area in front of Sound Proof hall.

The Souvenir shop will be an extended branch of Le Corbusier Museum sector 19.A varieties of Souvenirs of Chandigarh Tourism in the form of caps, Key chains, T-shits, Table lamps, paper weight, crystal glasses and color reproduction of work of art of Le Corbusier building and monument of Capitol Complex will be available for sale. Since the largest numbers of tourists visit the Rock Garden, the souvenir shop will help them to carry the art work of Le Corbusier.
