Why are glass aquarium stands hollow in the middle?
Jul 18, 2008 by Hicktown girl66 | Posted in Fish
The one I have, and all the other stands I've seen don't have a panel for the whole aquarium bottom to be supported. The aquarium just sits on its rims with nothing to support the very bottom of it. Why is that?
Glass can expand and contract with heating and cooling.
The aquarium can shrink or expand on its rims.
Sitting flat the glass could crack.

Clearwater Marine Aquarium's change to Harborview deal annoys City Council
30.08.11
CLEARWATER — A variation the Clearwater Marine Aquarium now wants to make to its deal to use the burg's Harborview Center struck a nerve with the City Ministry Monday.
The deal, as approved two weeks ago: The city would fix up the closed line of work center for $172,000; the aquarium would open a satellite site there and pay the see back.
City leaders liked the plan. Who wouldn't? It was let loose.
One problem. Attorney Nathan Hightower said aquarium leaders lack to move in early — around Sept. 15, before the site's November chance — but don't want to pay for those weeks of utilities.
It was a reasonable demand, he said, because the city would be paying for the utilities in the building anyway. "I reproduce a tenant," Hightower said. "That tenant wants to have as many rights as it can get."
To which consistory members replied: What about us? The city would have to pay up to $10,000 in a deal that members were told would expenditure nothing. The aquarium would have to pay only $1 a year in rent.

Be ready to be amazed. Nothing is utterly eye-opening similar to receiving your cover off a table as well as dramatically mending your observation angle. By elevating your laptop, youll shift a approach we lay during your desk. Instead of hunched over your laptop, tortuous down over a table to type, youll find yourself relaxing behind in your chair. The socket that the stand has to prevent the laptop from sliding is too high for the majority of the laptops makes it very hard to type and have a rest where to place and rest the hands, the plastic tops for the bottom of the stand are not glued properly and as the other reviewers pointed out there is not a transformer for the USB socket.
Kinda dissapointed, kept it but also bought the fellows stand which is very different but proved to be a lot more functional.
I just got this the other day and wanted to add some information to my review which I did not find when evaluating the product. First, the stand is very sturdy and fits my 14″ screen laptop as well as my 16″ screen laptop with no problem. There are a couple of pads in the area where the laptop rests which keep the laptop from slipping around. Second, the stand has a 4-port attached USB 2.0 hub and comes with a cable to connect the hub to an open USB port on your laptop. The placement of the USB hub on the back of the stand works well for me because I have a keyboard/mouse controller, 2 printers and and a VOIP headset and the wires stay out of the way now. As far as the USB hub not coming with a power cord, that is true. However, this is fairly common as most USB hubs are bus powered. As I said, what comes in the box works perfectly for me. Finally, it comes completely assembled out of the box. I love it and would recommend it to anyone...
