I got a 35g Fish tank. It came with some things and I am Confused.?
I recently bought a 35 Gallon Hexagon fish tank for 30 bucks,It came with the stand, a Whisper 10-30i filter, a 100w heater that is preset( to what? I dunno) , 2 air pumps and a What looks like under ground filter.
My questions are-
1. What is the 10-30i Filter rated at? Can anyone find me an instruction manual, it doesn't look like it came with everything I need.
2. The underground filter looks odd, it has 3 pipes, 2 are open at the top, and the middle of those three has a little outlet thingy on the very top of the tube. How does it work? Does it use one or both of those Air pump?
3. It also came with a hood light that doesn't cover the entire tank, it leave the top open for fish to jump out. Is there a way to make one out of plexi glass or one that I can buy?
4. What kind of filters are good to use on a hexagon tank? I like Biowheel filters but I dunno if one will fit on it.

2) The UG filter is an outdated design ... I'd lose it.
In operation there SHOULD be an air stone down each one of those lift tubes ... it sounds incomplete.There should be a line connection at the top of each lift tube with a plastic hard line to receive the air stone at the bottom.It should use both pumps if all connections are there.
3)Cut plexi or acrylic to rest on the inside lip of the tank ... cheaper than purchasing one.If you know the manufacturer of the tank,you can find a full hood with a search.
4) I prefer bio-wheel filters too .... a Penguin or Emperor design should fit the pane width(would have more appropriate flow too).Use the chart I gave you and measure the hex side width.
