Can a marineland eclipse tank be used as a planted tank?

I might get one of these for free, either the 15 gallon or 29 gallon, so could it be used as a planted tank with shrimp in there?

Any tank will do the job. as long as its a tank, you can use it.

I just got an AquaClear filter for my 10G tank, and let me tell you, WOW! It keeps the water SO clean, and has a water flow adjustment so my betta babies aren't being thrown all over lol. And it's really quite too. I chose the AC over the Marineland because I CAN adjust the water flow, which was very important to me with the bettas. You can start the cycle either fishless, with fish or seeded from a healthy tank, I only cycle by the last two methods, if you want to cycle fishless you need to get some type of ammonia that doesn't contain surfactent, perfumes, soap...etc....and add to the tank every day to keep at least 2-3ppm level some have used fish food but that method can be messy and stinky, I don't recommend fish food. Water test kit is needed for fishless cycle. You can speed the cycling process up by seeding the tank with NB from a healthy established tank by using a piece of filter media and/or some of the substrate, you can get a cup or so of healthy substrate and put it in pantyhose and put that in the water flow from the filter, seeding can speed thing up by a few weeks, again depending on bioload. Your filter media should only be cleaned when the flow has slowed and you clean it by rinsing/swishing it in old tank water so not to kill the good bacteria causing a mini cycle, you only need to change out the filter media when the media is falling apart, I change mine 1-2 times per year. You want the filter media to look dirty this is the good stuff that help keep your water fish safe. I have put the submersible heater in the water to let its' temperature settle, what temperature should i start setting it at? I have not measured the temperature of the fishie's water yet, but they're in a sort-of cooler room temperature atm. Once they're in the tank, how often should i increase the temp of the water, to reach the optimal range?
