Hoboken Pet Parade bring People and Pooches out to the Maxwell Place Waterfront
People and pets are currently converging on Hoboken's Waterfront, dressed in quirky costumes, for The 7th Annual Pet Parade & Straightforward, put on by the Hoboken Museum.
More than 20 local pet service providers have currently set up tents on the Maxwell Bracket Waterfront, between 11th and 12th Streets, for the Pet Honest, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. today, officials said.
The pet mall, which is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m., will proceed down the walkway around Maxwell House Park and return to the Pier, will award prizes for 'Nicest Costume,' Best Trick, Best Group Costume, Best Pet/Proprietress Look Alike, and Judges’ Choice To the fullest extent in Show, according to the announcement.
"We love dressing up our dogs," Hoboken local Pooja Varshneya, who dressed at the 'Cat in the Hat,' said. "There's a lot of dogs, a lot of egregious costumes, a lot of good vendors."
Varshneya dressed her two four-year-old dogs, Beaker, a Yorkie, and Bunson, a Shitzhu, as 'Preoccupation 1' and 'Thing 2,' and her friend, Good manners Stecher dressed as the little girl from the Dr. Seuss exemplary, and dressed her Toy Yorkie, Peanut, as the fish, in hopes of delightful home an award.

The strains of the Pink Panther , by baritone saxophone, sounded good, but perhaps it was for the best that Lucy Morris could not see the reactions of her audience.
Miss Morris (19) was spotted busking outside the Countdown supermarket in central Dunedin yesterday morning, wearing a microfleece cat costume.
The costume's only opening was a mouth-hole, just right for the saxophone's reeded mouthpiece, but insufficient to keep the wearer cool.
The only advantage for Miss Morris, as she endured rising temperatures on a sunny day, inside the mainly black costume, was the protection the suit provided from her seeing the gazes of bemused shoppers.
A procession of customers passed by, staring quizzically, with only small children seemingly impressed.
Without eyeholes, Miss Morris was blind to it all, playing while friend Allun Todd (19), of Dunedin, kept watch on her takings.
Miss Morris said she made the suit six months ago for a design conference in Auckland, and was using it to raise money to help fund a study trip to China.
Miss Morris leaves today for the United States, before travelling to Wuxi, China, to study Mandarin for a month.
