Treasure Valley residents walk to assist adoptions of black dogs ...
BOISE - Almost 50 owners and their dogs came out to raise awareness of Black Dog Syndrome with a short hike through the the Military Reserve dog park on Sunday.
The dark color of the dogs' faces can make it hard to distinguish their features and facial expressions, so "you can't really make a connection," explained Teri Dipasquale, one of the organizers of Sunday's walk. The syndrome is one of the reasons that black dogs are less likely to be adopted from pet shelters.
Sunday's walk was put on by SNIP, Spay Neuter Idaho Pets, Inc. Dipasquale hopes to have similar walks on the second Sunday each month.
