Star Wars - Pet Costumes

star wars?

I'm writing this very important research paper on star wars. strictly formal, so i need plenty of resources to list on bibliography. If anyone can tell me any good sites to visit it'd be helpful. I'VE ALREADY BEEN TO WIKIPEDIA. I need some websites to inform me who came up with the idea and how, the process that was done for casting, things abou the technology and about how they built the set and did special effect, something about the audience response and something about the enterprise when it first came out and now. REMEMBER- I need resources, i have to cite everything.

The official web site run by LucasArts (George Lucas' company) is here:
http://www.starwars.com/themovies/
The majority of the entries for each character, vehicle, location, etc. has a "Behind the Scenes" tab that provides various information on original concept art, note on the actor (for characters), and production methods for creating miniture models and CGI elements. There's a special section called "Hyperspace" (marked with an icon of a yellow "H" in from of the frames of the Millenium Falcon's cockpit, which looks a lot more like a "H" on a movie reel at first glance) and in this sectrion subscription members can access additional articles.

There are alot of sites and books dedicated to the Star Wars universe depicted in the films, comics, novels, and video games. I'm assuming your actually looking for the more "behind the scenes" info rather than the finished story, locations, and characters.

The easiest place to start is to find someone with the DVD boxed set for the original Star Wars trilogy, it has 4 DVDs, 3 are the movies and the 4th is marked "Bonus Material". This 4th DVD has the featurette "Empire of Dreams" (it was shown on A&E a while back). In it they mention alot of the behind the scenes history of how the story was made, marketing franchise, the casting for the various key characters, location shoots, model making, use of matte paintings, CGI effects for the Special Ediction, sound effects, filming techniques and special effects along with the various changes in technology that were developed and used between the original trilogy and the prequel trilogy... basically it touches on a lot of the stuff you listed in your question, but you may have to look through it a few times to catch all the various details they mention (they tend to kinda fly by in a lot of cases) since it crams about 30 years worth of Star Wars movie making into about 3 hours or so.

Of course a single DVD isn't going to be enough to I've tried to find as many possible "behind the scenes" books that could go into futher detail. I haven't read any of them, but their summaries give the impression that they may provide the "real world" behind the scenes stuff like the Empire of Dreams DVD above.

Empire Building (looks like an alternate book of whats on the DVD)

SWEP1: The Making of the Phantom Menace (Looks like it goes into the behind the scenes stuff not really covered in the DVD.)

SW: Where Science Meets Imagination (Looks like it shows comparisons between real technology and the type of technology in Star Wars)
http://search.barnesandnoble.com/booksea rch/isbnInquiry.asp?z=y&EAN=97807922 62008&itm=177
Inside the Worlds of Star Wars (Goes into the making of scenes and worlds using various real locations and special effects)
http://search.barnesandnoble.com/booksea rch/isbnInquiry.asp?z=y&EAN=97807566 03076&itm=183
I think these go into the various real world myths encorperated into the Star Wars movies.

http://search.barnesandnoble.com/booksea rch/isbnInquiry.asp?z=y&EAN=97807894 55918&itm=1
These "scrapbooks" also go into behind the scenes stuff.

http://search.barnesandnoble.com/booksea rch/isbnInquiry.asp?z=y&EAN=97803758 00085&itm=28
And this one goes into the behind the scenes stuff on the writing and screenplay of the Star Wars films.

I doubt you're gonna want to shell out money just to get these books, but I'm sure there's got to be some student Star Wars fans living scattered around campus and the nearby towns. You might be able to assemble all the books on here by borrowing one or two of them from several different student Star Wars fans. If your really lucky, there will be 1-3 super hardcore Star Wars fans that have most of these books, instead of having to borrow books from over half a dozen people.

This should give you a decent start into your project with multiple sources. The only trick is getting a hold of the books, the DVD box set with "Empire of Dreams" should be easy to borrow. Hope this helps... was gonna say "good luck", but I think it would be more fitting to close with a classic line...

"May the Force be with you." =P

Double star could host habitable planet

Planets with two suns - like Star Wars' Tatooine - could at the end of the day be habitable, astrophysicists have concluded - and they say they know where to look.

Back in September, researchers using NASA’s Kepler blank telescope discovered Kepler-16b , a cold, gaseous planet orbiting two stars around 200 incandescent years from Earth.

Now, a team from the University of Texas at Arlington has found that if Kepler-16b has a moon, it could be accomplished of supporting life. Based on the brighter of the two stars' excitement output, they established that there should be a habitable zone between about 34 million and 66 million miles out.

Kepler-16b lies towards the shell edge of this zone; and while it's uninhabitable itself, a rocky moon - which would have anough reserve to retain an atmosphere - could be a different matter.

The team also believes an 'extended liveable zone' exists outside the orbit of the gaseous planet - for a planet with cheerful levels of greenhouse gases such as carbon monoxide or methane in its spirit.

Star Wars Burlesque: Tatooine-Styled Shenanigans at the Bordello ...

Saturday night, downtown club Bordello temporarily transformed itself into Mos Eisley Cantina for a night of Tatooine-styled shenanigans helmed by Devil's Playground. Star Wars Burlesque reimagined a host of beloved characters from the film series -- from the sexy to the androgynous to the grotesque -- as scantily clad female performers, with locals On Blast assuming the role of cantina band. Check out the cast of characters below. Nobody tells this droid that they don't serve "their kind" in a cantina. C-3PO might just kick out Figrin D'an and the Modal Nodes, put on some Kraftwerk and pull off a robot tease like this one. We should also note that Lucy Fur portrayed both Link and Zelda at last summer's Video Game Girls event. Her performances are always fun and clever.

Character: Boba Fett There's a reason why Courtney Cruz always performs last at Devil's Playground events and it's not simply because she founded the burlesque troupe. Her costumes, designed by Carlos Flores, are consistently over-the-top and heavily detailed, in this instance, down to the Stormtrooper pasties. She performed to Front 242's industrial dance hit "Headhunter." You should have been there. However, if you weren't, Devil's Playground will repeat the show on March 13.

Friggin awesome! I ust see this next time I'm couchsurfing through LA! This will make an incredible addition to http://CouchSurfingOri.com - I am actually going to see if I can get the club to give me a press pass. This looks like a photographer's playground!

Thanks for the awesome writeup, and incredible pictures! What a creative concept.

says:

I was at this thing. Great idea, TERRIBLE execution. The girls didn't even take the stage for 3 hours (forcing the crowd to sit through some emo band til 11:30pm), and even with all that time to prepare, there were still 5-10 minute gaps between dancers (who were mostly very good). Add an emcee who was far beyond annoying and a crowd far beyond fire code limits, and what you get is a huge disappointment.
