Ive got an empty 30x30x45 cm tall tank with nothing into it. Ive also got various UV lights, basking bulbs, heat mats etc from past experience with frogs, toads, chameleons and turtles. Any suggestions for what I put in the terrarium? Preferably something easy-to-keep and handle.
you could but a hamster or mouse in there - they dont need extra heating and lighting, are easy to keep and easy to handle - but most people dont consider them as exotic

a giant african millipede would be good too. they get to about 11 inches long, are pretty easy to keep and you can handle them. they need the heating stuff, but not so much the lighting. caresheet? http://www.petbugs.com/caresheets/A-giga s.html
land snails. they get to about 11 inches again, need the heating but not the light, can be handled too if you arent squeamish haha http://exoticpets.about.com/cs/rarespeci es/p/landsnails.htm
Chilean rose tarantula would be good in there too. again, you can handle them carefully, but they are really more for viewing (then again, people say that about leopard geckos...)

Emperor Scorpion - these are way cooler than tarantulas. you can handle them carefully and are pretty low maintanence

Hissing Cockroaches are awsome - i love them haha. they are really docile, can be handled and are really easy to keep

a leopard gecko would fit in there, so long as you worked out the temps and everything. they get to about 8 inches long, are so sweet and can be handled, and are pretty low maintanence
http://www.leopardgeckocare.net/
crested geckos are cute, pretty low maintenence, and can be handled a bit, but not as much as other lizards
http://www.pangeareptile.com/id52.htm
a garter or ribbon snake could live in there too. they get to 3 ft long, can be handled and are low mainanence, as all snakes

some of these are illegal in some places though, so you might need to check that.
there is no way a bearded dragon would fit in a 10 gallon for more than a couple of months - a 60 gallon is a minimum for an adult

Houseplants Deserve Respect, Too

Chris Brown would dearest to build White Oak Garden Center’s houseplant sales, but a travel to the grocery store serves as a regular reminder of the invitation she faces as a greenhouse manager in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Take the orchids Brown finds at Kroger. Pallid Oak used to carry orchids, but grocery store and big box chains have reduced prices so dramatically that disconnected garden centers can no longer compete on them, he says.
“The last epoch we were in there they were selling orchids for less than what we pay for them,” Brown says.
The same goes for a figure of other houseplants. If White Oak’s customers are going to buy based on price alone, Kroger wins every outdated. Still, Brown indicates his margins on houseplants are fairly continuous. White Oak typically doesn’t mark down houseplants or put up for sale a slew of sales. Instead, the management devises a sketch for buying and selling houseplants, and it sticks to that plan.
Another game for achieving good margins on houseplants is to create an know-how customers could never get at Kroger or Home Depot. The starting full stop for any independent’s success with houseplants is in making a commitment to them. Independents can’t imagine to be the go-to source for houseplants when all they’re offering is a few 4-inch plants on a bench unseen in the corner of the garden center. And they can’t simply proposition the same plant material their customers will find down the street at a better quotation.
Turtles pets can be a great addition to your family and provide hours upon hours of enjoyment. Having said that it is very important to do your homework up front before you go and buy your new turtle or turtles pets. There are a wide range of types of turtles that can be different in things like personality and size. Very close to choosing the breed of cat or dog that is proper for you.
You should take into consideration the amount of time you have to devote to taking care of your turtle, the space you can provide, how old the people caring for the turtle are, how much financially you can put towards your turtle, what the laws in your state are regarding keeping captive turtles, and many other things.
I have seen a lot of people start off with a small turtle in a 5 -10 gallon aquarium only to find out that their turtle would soon outgrow this enclosure and need a bigger space. There are types of turtles which will stay little enough to thrive in a 40 gallon long aquarium, which is the smallest I would ever go. This is why it is essential to find out how big your turtles pets full grown adult size is before you buy it so that you can plan ahead.
The movie Rocky shows the main character having some small turtles as pets, and this is not the proper way to care for them. Rocky’s wife worked at a small pet shop and Rocky had two baby turtles in a very small, round, glass fish bowl in his apartment. The turtles had a small amount of water to swim, no correct lighting, no hot spot, and too small of a tank. Click one of the links in this article to learn in more detail how to care for your turtles pets right away.
Most states do not allow you to own turtles that are under four inches in length except for universities or research facilities. One of the reasons for this is that is is thought that there can be a greater chance of acquiring salmonella from these types of turtles. Years and years ago some small children had contracted salmonella from putting these smaller turtles in and around there mouths. That is another reason why it is so important to have proper supervision around
Venus' flytraps and a pitcher shrub are included in this terrarium of carnivorous plants. By Denise Trowbridge Today's terrariums aren't the clunky 10-gallon aquariums or massive glass globes of the 1970s. They're modern works of art and identity, and more »
the issue might very well have been the following conversation between the kids: We wanted pets that were to some degree easy to care for, and who would do well in the 10-gallon terrarium that had been a Hanukkah present for our sons.
