Aquarium Supplies Frogs - Reptile Supplies

Is there a good priced, thrifty catalog for aquarium supplies, etc...?

I'm a new fish owner & was just wondering if there were any catalogs geared specifically toward fish/dwarf frogs/aquariums/supplies, etc...with good prices. Thanks!

How long does it take to do a fishless cycle in a 10g aquarium?

(Hood+light, gravel, plants, heater, filter, air pump, water testing kit, dechlorinator, pure ammonia, background, ornaments) I plan to cycle the tank for 1 month, because that’s how long it’s going to be before I can go get the fish anyway. The pet store is too far away. Is 1 month long enough?

And here are the instructions I have for a fishless cycle, please let me know if they are correct:

When you have 0 ammonia and 0 nitrites…. it really doesn’t matter what the nitrates matter (well it matters, but the nitrates are the least toxic product of bio-filtration inside the filters) you are capable of stocking fish.

Ideally you want nitrates 10 or less for best fish growth.

The 90% water change won’t kill any bacteria … you’re basically doing it to remove one food source (the ammonia traces) and add another (the fish).Bacteria really never know the difference. and, yes, pure ammonia is a harsh chemical… but it is the most effective and fastest way to "fish-less" cycle.Fish food is entirely too long, but slinging a dead prawn in the tank will help.

My advice is read more articles to get more views on cycling… I like this one… http://www.theoscarspot.com/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=2091 .

From several experienced sources I have learned that using pure ammonia to cycle a tank is extremely dangerous for you and your fish. I would suggest doing a fish less cycle a different way. Instead of adding ammonia add fish food. Put fish food in the aquarium daily and the food will produce ammonia in your aquarium. The time it takes to complete a fish less cycle varies but it usually takes around a month. If you don’t use ammonia to cycle your tank you can get your fish within a month. Just test the water before you get the fish. Also never do a 90% water change that would kill most of the beneficial bacteria.
