I live in South Florida. Every winter, when it got cold, the lizards all died. So I bought a reptile heater, built a wood box and placed it in on the bottom on a ceramic plate. Lizards get in by climbing up the sides of the box and over the top. I have a cover with a 1" wide space that hangs over the top. So the rain and cold and wind will stay out. I also put shelves everywhere so lizards could sit all over the inside of the box, as well as on the bottom where the heater is at.
11 months later, when I open the box, I find at night, insects, mostly crickets, some spiders, few roaches, a LOT of lizards, various species, and three snakes. ALL asleep!! Many on top of each other. During the day, when the sun comes out, every one goes out for another day. Hmmm..
