Periodically a hobby will get out of hand — it’s so much fun the hobbyist keeps producing more of whatever interests him or her, wants bigger tools to do the task more efficiently or effectively, and needs way more arrange to contain it all. Two Pratt women have found a solution to that problem by accepted into business.
Elaine Ray and Sue DeWeese opened Frog Hollow in the 54 Plaza on East First Byway someone's cup of tea on Sept. 1. It’s two businesses within a business that also offers commercial opportunities to other artists and craftspeople who don’t covet to venture into the business world themselves.
Ray does tabletop designs for weddings. Then she was asked to do some parties. The accoutrements and supplies outgrew her home. A 9- by 12-foot manage bedroom could no longer contain DeWeese’s mechanism embroidery business, and Frog Hollow was born.
Ray provided the name. When her boys were younger they hunted frogs at the blood’s home. Now grandsons are avid frog-catchers. The soup to husband Keith that they call their home Frog Hollow didn’t clip on, but it seemed a good name for a business in a town where the frog is a popular icon.
