Crime and Courts: Joe Parisi signs gun ban for Dane County-owned buildings
21.09.11
Dane County has officially rolled out the "Not Entitled" mat for
gun toters.
County Executive Joe Parisi signed a staunchness Tuesday, passed
unanimously at the Sept. 15 County Embark on meeting, that will make it
illegal for anyone except law enforcement officers to commence a
county-owned building armed when the state's concealed perform law
goes into effect on Nov. 1. The resolution states that all
buildings will be posted with signs at the doors informing people
that guns aren't allowed.
"This changelessness is necessary to protect those who visit and
work in county buildings every day," Parisi said in a proclamation.
"Citizens shouldn't have to worry about concealed guns when they
globe-trotting trips at the airport or take their families to the zoo."
One glitch: By law, the county can't ban guns at outside venues,
except during special events, so those visiting the zoo could be
packing heat. They upstanding can't visit the reptile house, the primate
house, or other indoor habitats.
The chief backers of the concealed lug bill, state Sen. Pam
Galloway, R-Wausau, and state Rep. Jeffrey Mursau, R-Crivitz,
weren't close by for comment.
