Snake heater question where to put it?

Okay i am getting a baby corn snake starting him for about a year in a 10 gallon then moving up to a 55 gallon. Right now though i am setting up the tank and i have a zoo med Under Tank Heater. I was going to put it under the tank on the far left side until i heard about corn snakes burrowing and getting burned. So should i place the heater on the lower side of the vertical portion of the glass or is it okay to use the heater under the tank?

dont worry it wont get burnt, but you want to place it at ne end of the tank with a hide over it and the water bowl on the oppposite side of the tank

A source of heat coming from the ground, or belly heat, is essential for a corn snakes digestion. You can achieve this with a light bulb and a rock, or you can by a heat rock. They are not to expensive and work very well. If you use the first method take care that the bulb does not heat the rock too much or the snake will burn itself. The snake will also need a hide box. This will allow it to get out of the heat, (if you have a lamp), and lower its stress. You can buy one or make one out of a container of some sort. Corn snakes are form southern United States and will be happy with hot and humid conditions, just don’t leave the snake in a glass aquarium out side in direct sunlight. Most likely the vivarium will be inside your home where it is air-conditioned, so you may need a lamp for heat. I only use my lamps when needed.

when i was in texas and some months in the summer it can be very hot all day 100F + and with our snakes we had to run the a/c in the house 24/7 to keep the house cool enough that we could give the snakes a warm and cool side to their vivarium. which meant we had to have heat pads and all that good stuff during the summer. yes our electric bill was outrageous during the summer $300.00 +
