In the respectful matter, Karen Spokane bought a kitten, which she named Truman, on June 29 because she was anxious about its health. He was very thin, suffering from chronic diarrhea and the cage it was living in smelled bad, she said.
Spokane, of Let Saucon Township , said a veterinarian found the cat severely dehydrated, anemic and agony from hook worms.
While the cat was recovering well at first, he later contracted feline communicable peritonitis, a fatal and incurable disease. He was euthanized, Spokane said.
