Super Pet My Hamster Gerbil - Small Pet Supplies

Gerbil vs. Hamster! Which pet do you truly think is the best animal to keep in your home and why? 10 POINTS!?

I have been allowed access to up to five Gerbils or Hamsters, but I have no Idea which one remains supreme over the other. I have heard that Gerbils are cuter, more active and are really funny - they are also apparently pets that can be taken outside under careful supervision. The downside is that I have been told that that they are super fast. Now, I have no problem with quick animals, but when someone adds "SUPER" onto the beginning of that quote, I have to think it over. Are they really that fast?

Hamsters are supposed to be cuddly but overall, boring. I do own a Teddy Bear hamster and yes, I do see little point in keeping it due to its low intention span. I dont mean Im going to single it out after the buy of new animals, but it belongs to my sister and I will be handing my duties over to her so I can deal with my menacing lot. I am aware that Dwarf Hamsters are the best for my style and personality, but unlike these creatures, Im not related to an owl in anyway. I do need my sleep at NIGHT. Thats a problem - I have intentions to slowly play with the group in the day but because they are known to be untame and wild, (even after the first two days of leaving them alone in their cage when bringing them to your house) and I dont want to be bitten nonstop. On the plus side, they seem to be friendly after a patient wait, but as a thirteen year old, you should be able to see why Im just a tad reluctant at racing on ahead.

Please give me some in depth details about everything - then give me the one pet I should get.

WQ: Also, please answer - how many Gerbils/Hamsters can stay in one cage to sleep, eat, drink, play, etc. The cage will be massive and will be an Aquarium as I have heard these are better and safer. Also, is buying a play area which is completely different to their dens a must?

Thankyou! Anyone willing to answer will be submitting their answer for the chance to gain ten points!

Ok I will show pro's and con's.

Hamster-
PROS
cheap, easy to take care of, buy unique toys for them, cute, soft, small, doesn't need a lot of attention, survive a week and more without food.
CONS
smelly, can bite, nocturnal( awake at night, can keep you up.), noisy, eat a lot, and lives for two years or one.

Gerbils-
PROS
cute, small, cheap
CONS
bite hard, smell, aggresive, nocturnal, live for short time, noisy, not cuddly.

I think you should get a hamster but its your decision. See the pros and cons for each pet? You decide. But I've had 5 happy, loving hamsters and they are a joy to be around. You give them love, they will give back more. Hammies don't bite that often, only boys do. Girls are the sweetest one. Gerbils are just, no offense to gerbil lovers, stupid!! My friend had some and they would bite her like every time she tried to pick them up. They are extremely aggressive and I do not recommend them to any one. (My friend is an animal lover like me and she never tortured them.)

WQ:
1. Hamsters can only be in one cage. If you have two girls they will fight, if you have two boys they will fight also. You can only have a boy and a girl in the cage but they could mate and end up having many many babies. Gerbils, I think they are the same way. I'm not quite sure. Also do not get an aquarium. Your pets will die in their if you have two or more in their. One is fine but I strongly disagree with getting an aquarium.

2. Getting a play area for them is good. It lets them see a new place then just their cage. They could interact with different things. Make sure that if you have a dog or cat, that doesn't come anywhere close to the play area because it could make the hamster/ gerbil dread the place if the go their and see their worst enemy.

I hope I helped!! good luck.

Staten Island homeowner awakens to snake slithering in toilet bowl

STATEN Holm, N.Y. -- Talk about a wakeup call!

Allen Shepard answered make-up's summons in his Graniteville apartment yesterday morning, then stepped to the cockiness to brush his teeth. Granted, it's all a bit fuzzy at 6:30 a.m., but Shepard swore he saw something slithering in the Nautical head bowl.

"What the hell is that?" he yelled.

It wasn't his imagination: It was a four-foot-prolonged California Kingsnake.

"I came out [of the bathroom] and closed the door and I got a broom. The fink was getting up on top of the rim, ready to strike," said the terrified occupier, who was alone in the flat.

The hissing snake struck at the broom and wouldn't let go.

Shepard knew he was next on the menu.

Indignant but still eco-friendly, he grabbed a bottle of Clorox Greenworks and sprayed the monstrousness with it.

The California King wasn't impressed. Shepard felt that if the worm could talk, it would ask, "That all you got?"

Unfortunately, that is all Shepard had.
